ChickenSoup – feeding the body, mind and soul of those most in need.

To continue in achieving our mission of Responsible Investment, generating social returns with a commercially viable investment approach, Project ChickenSoup was launched in September 2013.

After months of community research and home visits, we targeted children from low-income families to be our first beneficiary group. One key statistic that confirmed our decision was that 60% of low-income children remain in poverty in their adulthood. We discovered very little resources were being deployed to end this cycle, as it’s the classic “important but not urgent” social problem.

ChickenSoup minimizes monetary spending by channel excess resources from the community to provide a complete package of after-school services to comfort and heal beneficiaries’ body (with nutritious and hot meals), mind (with regular homework tutorials and extra-curricular activities) and soul (with life-skills education and family counseling services). ChickenSoup aims to provide families with immediate assistance and long-term tools to minimize cross-generation poverty.

With growing partnerships, growing experience, and donor support, ChickenSoup now covers more than 10 locations in Hong Kong, benefiting more than 2,500 at-risk families and has been delivering quantifiable social returns with accountability, transparency, and impact maximization.
