May 2016 – Exit from Garage Society

The Associates exited our investment in the Garage Society in Hong Kong in a management buyout. The Associates will continue to invest in premium entrepreneurial platforms in other countries in Asia, as well as towards the social community through charities and social enterprises.

Convinced by Garage Society’s aspiration to build a higher-end co-working space, The Associates backed the startup with majority capital within three months of concept launch in March 2014. Garage Society further expanded into other locations in Hong Kong in 2015. As the co-founder, The Associates led the transformation of Garage Society’s business model over the last two years, from being a co-working space into the leading entrepreneurial community in Hong Kong, including the building of its social media strategy and team. The Garage Society is currently hosting the Asian arm of all global “unicorns” using Hong Kong as their base, such as Uber, Twilio and The Honest Company.

With the mission of “earn-live-share”, The Associates will continue to invest in mission-driven startups; currently we are an angel investor of Boxful and Yeechoo, the latter which received an investment from the Alibaba Entrepreneurial Funds last week. The Associates is also the founder of and advisor to the ChickenSoup Foundation.
